Lauwaʻe was created in 2012 by Nalani and Kaiʻulu Downing, named after Gildea Lauwaʻe Chang Downing. Hand-painted rayon is used for its soft, flowing nature; created in beautiful, vibrant prints. Lauwaʻe incorporates original prints created by local Hawaiian artist Keone Downing and others.
Lauwaʻe brings fashions to compliment our Polynesian bodies, tastes, and lifestyle. We Polynesian women are proud of our bodies and enjoy wearing flattering styles that help us feel beautiful inside and out. Our lifestyle involves ʻohana and friends and the celebrations that come with that. Whether it is a backyard luʻau or a night out, we celebrate our Polynesian culture and style in our clothing. Lauwaʻe strives to help create part of that joy.
